““At the end of July 2022, it suddenly “kicked in”, terrible pain in my back and right leg. After several emergency room and doctor visits, they suspected a herniated disc and I was prescribed medications, which, however, did not provide any solution for me. I crawled around with this pain for days and only after prescribing Oxycodone (this is an opioid and addictive !) could I keep things under control to some extent. Meanwhile, I also found out that people in the Netherlands (my hometown) would not start operating very soon (maybe early 2023!). My daughter then started looking for a solution, and through some wandering we ended up with Dr Van Daele. After an initial telephone contact, things went quickly. Dr Van Daele invited me to come for a consultation in Waregem after only a few days. For me, this meant a journey of about 2.5 hours from the Netherlands, but I was happy to do it. During the consultation, Dr Van Daele explained very clearly what the procedure entailed (see also his website) and after a week I could already be treated. The endoscopic surgery with minimal stress (incision of about 8 mm) took place on 29 August 2022 and on 30 August I could already return home. The nerves to my right leg still have to “get used to” but I am pain-free and on my way to my normal doings. My thanks for the very quick and adequate action of Dr Van Daele and the nursing team.

““Life Changing. I had endoscopic surgery for a herniated disk that was affecting my sciatica, with pain in my back, right leg and foot. The Dr. is personable and direct. I found Dr. Van Daele as I was searching for an alternate option for traditional open cut surgery; he seemed to be the leading doctor for endoscopic surgery. I was glad that he was readily available for an appointment and that he could schedule me soon enough for surgery (he was able to access my medical records and history before I sent them to him). The hospital appointment and preparatory exams were quite fast [about 2 hrs for all]. Hospital checking-in was also without problem. The surgery went well! The first time I got up to walk [later the same day], I could move without pain. I still had nerve damage so I didn’t have full use of my leg but I could now move...recovery has gone well too, I’m 8 weeks post surgery and can move about and work. “My experience regarding the treatment of spinal stenosis.
In the Netherlands, it took about 10 weeks before I could make an appointment with a specialist and then another 8 or 9 months before I could be operated on.
It meant I would be virtually unable to walk for a year with all the risks involved because my walking got worse and worse.
I found Dr van Daele in Belgium via the internet. One Friday I sent an email, on Saturday I received a reply, a week later I had an appointment and three weeks later I was operated on by Dr van Daele!!!!
The endoscopic surgery went perfectly and in the afternoon I was already standing next to the bed for a while. Meanwhile, I walk 6 km again and walk 9 holes with waves and I am fully recovered.
